Laya Behbahani

Laya Behbahani is a PhD candidate in Communication. She completed her BA (Hons) and Master’s in Criminology before completing further course work at the University of Vienna, Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and Yale University’s School of Management.

Laya is also a Visiting Professor in Public Policy and previously taught in Labour Studies for over a decade. She worked at the Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria and served as a Research Associate at the Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business at York University’s Schulich School of Business.

Her research focuses on labour and migration in the Middle East and currently works as a Researcher at the Re:Structure Lab based in Stanford University, Simon Fraser University, University of Michigan, and Yale University.

Laya is a student of Hawza Online. She is the Director of Strategic Planning and a Co-Founder of Tasneem Institute.
