About this course
Examine marriage from an Islamic perspective, beginning with its purpose and the reasons people delay it. The discussion moves through eligibility for marriage, choosing a spouse and the marriage contract, before considering married life and the rights and responsibilities of husband and wife.
The later lessons address difficult questions within marriage: divorce, domestic violence, conflict resolution and seeking external help. They also examine the verse commonly discussed in relation to wife-beating and the issue of animosity and desertion by a husband. The sequence brings the formation of marriage and its challenges into one sustained study.
