About this course
Read Āyat al-Kursi closely, following its language and its account of God’s attributes. The study begins with the verse’s significance and merits, then considers the meaning of Allah, the word huwa, and the divine names al-Ḥayy and al-Qayyūm. Each topic gives another point of entry into the verse.
Later lessons examine divine sovereignty, intercession and knowledge before turning to the meaning of kursi and its distinction from ʿarsh. The sequence connects these concepts with the cosmology of creation and returns to the verse’s descriptions of God as unwearying, exalted and supreme.
