About this course
Study Sūrat al-Mulk through a close reading of its language and themes. Beginning with how to read the Qur’an and the chapter’s merits, the lessons examine barakah, the meaning of the Hand of God, and the distinction between mulk and malakūt before turning to divine power, death and life.
The reading continues through the creation of the heavens, warnings and responses to them, and what the heart conceals. Later passages bring attention to the earth, birds, blessings and the straight path, before the discussion reaches the timing of the Day of Judgement. These themes unfold within the sequence of the chapter.
