“Introduction to Islamic Theology” is an online course that examines the fundamental belief system of the Islamic tradition through a historical lens. The objective of this course is to help students appreciate the intellectual sophistication within traditional Islamic scholarship, and gain insight into some of the principles and techniques of analysis that were used by medieval Muslim theologians. Additionally, students will also gain familiarity with major theological debates and diversity of views among Muslims in the past, and consequently better understand the historical background and theological positions of different Islamic schools and sects that we encounter today.
