Introduction to Islamic Legal Theory
“Introduction to Islamic Legal Theory” is an online course that explores one of the oldest disciplines in the Islamic tradition. Students will gain a foundational understanding of the common elements used to derive legal rulings across various subject areas of jurisprudence, such as how language communicates meaning, under what circumstances the report of a transmitter is authoritative, what course of action must be taken in case of contradictions among sources, and what duty we have in the absence of evidence on an issue.
